The RAF Association has a clear objective: to help sustain a resilient and empowered RAF community, including serving personnel, RAF veterans and their families. Through our sector leading services, we offer friendship to the isolated and lonely, sheltered housing for those who want to remain proudly independent and childcare to serving personnel on RAF stations.  We work closely with partner organisations, including other military charities, and have a strong bond with our donors and supporters, giving us the confidence to deliver for our beneficiaries when they need us.

 About the team

Our regional casework team are a small group of passionate individuals who put the beneficiary at the heart of everything they do. The role is busy and no two days are the same. You will triage welfare enquiries from branches, volunteers and beneficiaries to identify need and allocate welfare referrals to appropriate welfare volunteers. You will be liaising with a range of external agencies to support welfare cases eg social workers, funding bodies as well as working in partnership with external organisations and developing strong links with other welfare organisations including charities and Local Authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups. An understanding of the value of volunteers is integral to the role as you will provide supervision, support and guidance to all casework volunteers. About you

You will have experience in supporting others preferably in welfare services and will be highly proficient in the use of case management databases and the use of IT, specifically Microsoft applications. You will be positive, patient and empathic with an adaptable approach to task management and a real passion for communicating and engaging with people. A high level of empathy and resilience are required as you may be speaking with beneficiaries who are feeling anxious or upset.
