Early Years Nursery Assistant

Subsidised childcare for staff

 RAFA Kidz Nursery, RAF Odiham RG29 1QH (just off the M3)

£9.50 per hour 40 hours per week

RAFA Kidz (Odiham) is a hugely popular nursery serving the local RAF community as well as non-service families when spaces allow.  We have a passionate and ambitious team of 24 staff who take great pride in supporting circa 70 children aged 0 -5 in a stimulating, exciting, educational and fun environment at our modern facility based at Kersley Crescent, Odiham.

We are excited to announce that we have a new position available for an Early Years Nursery Assistant to join our friendly team!  Whilst some experience in childcare would be preferred, our ideal colleague will have a real passion to work (and learn!)  with children.  If you can bring an approachable, cheerful and engaging personality and be prepared to take up all learning opportunities then this could be the perfect fit for you. In return, we will reward your hard work and commitment by ensuring you have every opportunity available to work towards gaining accredited early years qualifications.

A typical day in the role will involve working and playing with children in a wide range of fun and engaging activities that are appropriate to the children’s interests and their stage of development. You will undertake mandatory training which includes Safeguarding Children and also Health and Safety to ensure the children’s safety is paramount at the nursery.  Basic literacy and numerical skills are important as you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records with regards to the children’s day to day activities.

We work as a team!  You will be joining a fantastic bunch who are committed to providing the very highest standard of childcare. As well as the nursery management team, our qualified Early Years Practitioners are very enthusiastic to nurture our new team members to ensure they understand not only our very high standards, but to also support you in your own personal development. A full role profile is available to download on our website

We asked Charlotte, one of our practitioners at Odiham about her experience of being part of our team;

‘Since joining RAFA Kidz Odiham I’ve been made to feel at home. It’s such a lovely place to work. All the staff are passionate about each and every child’s learning and development and this is shown in so many ways from their caring nature to their fun ideas and activities. RAFA Kidz has become a second family to me especially as I am a military wife with no family around and they do their utmost to support me as an employee and a parent. It’s such a positive place to work and I always feel listened too and understood.’

 RAFA Kidz is a not-for-profit trading subsidiary of the RAF Association and is operated as a socially responsible business. This means RAFA Kidz can focus on providing the best possible service for the RAF community at RAF Odiham rather than on making commercial profit.

New to 2022 is our fantastic opportunity for an incredibly subsidised swim and gym membership at RAF Odiham.  If you still have some energy to burn at the end of the day then why not take advantage of the modern facilities whether that is pounding the treadmill or a just enjoying a relaxing swim!  In addition, we offer:

 We provide a wonderful supportive environment and you will be encouraged to take up training opportunities to further your own personal skills and career development

  • 33 days holidays (includes our Christmas shut down allowing you more time to relax and recharge!)
  • free DBS
  • free parking
  • company pension
  • access to our Employee Support Programme
