'Into The Light', taken by Air Specialist Leah Jones, won the People category of the 2026 RAF Photographic Competition.

The RAF Association is the sponsor for the People category of the annual competition.

The RAF Photographic Competition awards ceremony took place at RAF Bentley Priory on Thursday 24 September where AS1 Jones was presented with her trophy.

Speaking at the event, she said: "I'd never actually done photography until I joined the Royal Air Force. It was something I was interested in as a hobby but I'd got no prior experience. Thankfully the RAF gave me all the training.

"The photo was taken on Exercise Greyhound Thunder when two of us were providing support to RAF Odiham. It was a busy exercise and we were all on individual Chinooks and it was quite chaotic as they were loading and unloading personnel onto the aircraft.

"Becoming a photographer in the RAF is so beneficial because you get so many more experiences than if you were doing it on your own. The experiences you get and the places you get to travel are fantastic and all the training is provided for you."
