To mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings we spoke to RAF veteran Bernard Morgan in an interesting interview of his D-Day recollections. We also have a story of Alfred Footman who was part of a small advance party stationed in Normandy to assist RAF fighters during the early phases of D-Day. Volunteers' Week (2-9 June) is a week dedicated to celebrating those who give their time to support organisations just like the RAF Association. We mark the occasion with both a short video of the impact of volunteering.

D-Day Red Tape

Alfred Footman was part of a small advance party of an RAF unit formed and trained to operate in Normandy. With the aid of specially built equipment, they were to assist with the operations of RAF fighters during the early phases of D-Day.

D-Day Veteran Story

Former RAF Sergeant and Mobile Code and Cypher Operator Bernard Morgan volunteered for the Royal Air Force on his 18th birthday - he was just 20 years old when he landed on D-Day. Watch our short video with Bernard where he recalls the events and his own experiences from June 1944.

Volunteering Impact - An Emotional Call to Remember

June 2024 celebrates 40 years of Volunteers’ Week. We mark the occasion with a short but emotional video, RAF Association Ambassador Anthony Inglis tells us about a memorable call he made, and why he continues to volunteer for our Connections for Life service.
