This month Air Mail, the RAF Association's members' magazine, celebrates 80 years in print. To mark the anniversary, editor Annie O'Brien chats to Ambassador Anthony Inglis about an amazing link his family has with the publication. We have also put together an article which takes a look back in history at the very first Air Mail issue from 1944.

May also holds the 30th anniversary of the end of apartheid in South Africa. To mark this we bring you a story of one of the greatest RAF fighter pilots of WWII who fought against the injustices which ravaged his homeland.

Air Mail - where it all began

80 years ago the first Air Mail was printed and distributed to 10,000 Association members. Today Air Mail is sent out to around 47,000 members who opt in to receive a printed copy by post. Here we take a look back in history at issue one from May 1944.
