Senior members of the RAF joined children and RAF Association staff to officially open RAFAKidz High Wycombe, a new nursery that will serve families on the station and in the local community.

During the visit, Air Officer Commanding of Number 2 Group, Air Vice-Marshal Suraya Marshall, and High Wycombe Station Commander, Wing Commander Jennifer Dennis, met children of military personnel, nursery keyworkers and representatives of the RAF Association, the RAF charity that operates the nursery.

RAFAKidz High Wycombe, which caters for children aged 0-5 years, is an extensive nursery space, featuring three bespoke rooms designed to cater for different age ranges. The nursery also boasts ample outdoor space for children to play in.

Nick Bunting, Secretary General for the RAF Association, said: “We know how vital it is for serving RAF families to have access to high quality childcare and have been responding to this need over the last couple of years with the introduction of our RAFAKidz nurseries. RAFAKidz High Wycombe offers families, a supportive and nurturing environment where their children can play, learn and grow.

“We are delighted to welcome the community in and around High Wycombe to the RAFAKidz family and to have had this opportunity to show Air Vice-Marshal Marshall and Wing Commander Dennis the positive impact the nursery is already having on the children and the serving community here at High Wycombe.”

Speaking at the event, High Wycombe Station Commander Wing Commander Jennifer Dennis, said: “I was delighted to be invited to attend the official opening of the RAFAKidz childcare facility at High Wycombe by Air Vice Marshal Marshall.

“My team have worked very closely with RAFAKidz since they were awarded the contract for the provision of childcare at RAF High Wycombe across three different settings. All three provide high quality childcare for military personnel and the local community, and I am especially pleased that Air Vice Marshal Marshall had the opportunity to see that at first hand.”

Part of the RAF Association, RAFAKidz currently has nine nurseries across the country at RAF Leeming, Brize Norton, Odiham, Cranwell and Digby, with three nurseries at RAF High Wycombe: Medmenham, Walter’s Ash and High Wycombe. Plus our latest nursery at Worthy Down opening soon. The nurseries are designed to meet the needs of military and civilian families in the community around RAF stations, providing affordable and quality childcare.
