RAFAKidz has been awarded a grant from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to help enhance its nurseries and give children from Armed Forces families more opportunities to learn and grow.

The funding was awarded in the form of grants by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust on behalf of the MOD’s Armed Forces Families Fund.

Acting Head of Operations for RAFAKidz Anna Gallimore said: “We’re grateful to the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and the MOD for awarding us these generous grants. We’re looking forward to putting our plans into practice and creating amazing spaces where our children can thrive.”

RAFAKidz Leeming will refurbish their nursery rooms with new furniture and resources, as well as installing a new cooker to prepare healthy food onsite.

RAFAKidz Cranwell will refurbish their much-loved garden with a new safety surface and climbing area. The children love being outside in the garden so the team will also create shelters so children and staff can spend time outside whatever the weather.

The team at RAFAKidz Digby will also rejuvenate their garden with new landscaping and play equipment to allow children to spend more time outside, improving their overall health and fitness.

RAFAKidz Odiham will use their share of the funding to refurbish their outdoor area, making it accessible to children and staff all year round. The team will install tepees to act as ‘quiet spaces’ for children to go for some quiet time.

Sonia How, Director of Policy & Communications at the Trust, Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, said: “We were delighted to work with the MOD to administer the Early Years programme at the end of 2022 – awarding grants that enhance Early Years learning environments to meet the specific needs of Service children 0-5 years.

“RAFAKidz received awards to enrich the learning and development of Service children through high quality resources and equipment, enhancing learning through play and encouraging an active lifestyle. We’re excited to hear more from these projects as they develop and see the positive difference this funding will bring to our youngest Service family members.”
