The Battle of Britain saw the RAF and the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm defend the UK against large-scale attacks by the Nazi Luftwaffe during the summer and autumn of 1940. Ultimately, the Luftwaffe was defeated, and Adolf Hitler was forced to abandon his plans to invade Britain.
