Riders who love cycling all around the world came together to take part in RAFA Rides 2021. Friends, family and colleagues joined each other either in person or virtually to cycle, and raise money for our RAF community.

One couple who love cycling and took to their bikes in June were Squadron Leader Sarah Lockhart, Lead Doctrine Planner for Space Delta 10, and Sergeant Tommy Lockhart, Physical Training Instructor, currently on a career intermission.

Our fabulous pair took part in RAFA Rides Virtual in 2021. As they couldn’t be together, they donned their lycra in different locations.

We talked to Sarah about their rides.

Where did you take part in RAFA Rides 21?

“Tommy took to the beautiful, yet mountainous, Colorado Springs, leading a team of three RAFA riders to the summit of Pikes Peak – a lofty height of 4,267m!

“I managed a team of UK and US service personnel on a six hour spin-athon at Peterson Space Force Base.”

What motivated you to take part?

“The Royal Air Forces Association is an exceptional charity that provides a plethora of support services to both veterans and current serving RAF personnel and their families.

“Tommy has run in multiple fundraising events for RAFA in the past; Scottish Highland Multi-activity Challenge in 2011 and Santa Runs in 2016, 2017 and 2018. It is a charity that we both believe in.”

We are excited to see how Sarah, Tommy and every single one of you plan on taking part in our collective global cycling challenge this year.
