As part of its commitment to the armed forces community, employees from Collins Aerospace in the UK will be taking part in Ride for RAFA in October.

Graeme Gault, Principal Business Development Manager Europe, the Middle East and Asia, created the cycling challenge for his colleagues. He said:

“Collins Aerospace is proud to be supporting the RAF Association with its own cycle challenge. Whether new to cycling and fancy a 30-mile challenge or a more seasoned cyclist wanting to take on a 250-mile ride, Ride for RAFA will challenge everyone.

“Creating our own challenge is a great way for Collins Aerospace to show its support for the armed forces community. Teams from sites around the UK will all be riding during the last two weeks of October, raising money for the RAF Association, a cause very close to the hearts of many within the company.

“On a personal level, I know from my time in the RAF how important friends are, so I would encourage people to team up to take on this challenge.”

Amy Petterson, Head of Community Fundraising at the Association, said:

“I would like to thank Collins Aerospace for organising their own cycle challenge. As well as raising money for our vital welfare work, the event will provide opportunities for friends to ride together. The camaraderie experienced by those in the military is often mentioned by those who have served, so to be able to raise money and connect with others is a double bonus.”

Collins Aerospace, was the headline sponsor for the Tornado Tribute Tour of England in June, also in support of the RAF Association. The challenge saw Gulf War veterans and long-time friends Mal Craghill and Martin Wintermeyer cycle 680 miles from St Eval in Cornwall to Washington, County Durham in ten days. During their ride they visited the graves of aircrew who died training for or during the conflict.
