We are very excited to announce that Matt Tebbutt is joining our team of RAF Association Ambassadors.

He will be well known to many as the host of BBC One’s ‘Saturday Kitchen’, as well as ‘Food Unwrapped’ on Channel 4.

Matt studied geography and anthropology at Oxford Brookes University where he joined the university air squadron and learned to fly. Matt had always wanted to join the RAF; however, he eventually decided against a career in the RAF and turned to his other ambition: becoming a chef.

Speaking of his ambassadorship, Matt said:

“I am really proud to have been asked to be an ambassador for the RAF Association. I wanted to learn to fly from an early age, which is why I joined the university air squadron. Also, both my grandfathers were in the RAF Regiment during the Second World War, so I have a strong family connection to the RAF.

“I am really looking forward to supporting the RAF community by helping to promote and raise awareness of the welfare services the Association provides to both the serving and veteran communities. I was particularly interested in the Finding It Tough mental wellbeing courses and the Connections For Life service, both of which are invaluable during the trying times we are all living through.”

Matt has recently developed an interest in cycling, but unfortunately won’t be able to join in with RAFA Rides on 4 and 5 June, due to filming commitments. In a message to RAFA Rides participants, he added:

“I wish the best of luck to all those taking part in RAFA Rides in June. If you need a bit of an energy boost for your training or on the ride, I’ve picked some great carb loading recipes or check out my instant coffee banana bread recipe.”

Rachel Huxford, Director of Marketing, Fundraising and Trading for the Association, said:

“We are thrilled that Matt has agreed to become an ambassador for us. He has already shown huge commitment both to the RAF Association and our RAF community, through his promotion of our mental wellbeing programme and his involvement in Op CONNECT helping us to reduce isolation and loneliness. Matt will be a great asset to the Ambassador team and we look forward to working with him”

We’d love to see your efforts, so please share your RAFA Rides recipes on either Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #RAFARidesEats – don’t forget to tag the RAF Association and Matt Tebbutt too.
