Marking the 30th anniversary of Operation GRANBY/DESERT STORM
17 January – 28 February 1991
Virtual Remembrance Service: Sunday 28th February 2021, 13:00
To mark the 30th anniversary of Operation GRANBY (the first Gulf War), we had planned a remembrance service at the National Memorial Arboretum (NMA). The service was to be part of the Tornado Tribute Tour of England undertaken by two former Tornado navigators, Mal Craghill and Martin Wintermeyer.
The 670-mile cycle tour from Cornwall to the north east of England was to visit the UK graves and memorials of the Tornado and Jaguar aircrew who lost their lives in training or during the conflict. Due to COVID this ride has been postponed, however Mal and Martin, along with friends, colleagues and the families of those who lost their lives, have been riding from their homes to pay their tribute to the fallen.
We may not be able to hold the ceremony at the NMA at this time, however, we believe it is important to mark the anniversary and pay tribute to all who lost their lives as a result of the conflict. Please join us for our Virtual Remembrance Service on Sunday 28th February 13:00 via our Facebook or YouTube live streams.
